It's About Effin' Time

This is, perhaps, the height of First World Problems, but for a few years now I've thought there should be an iPhone app that lets me take a picture of a flower and identify it by name.  Just a few nights ago, while trying to fall asleep, I revisited this concept in my mind and resolved to write a rant about it.

As if on cue, Jason Kottke points us to this:  The LeafSnap Field Guide.  It seems to be exactly what I've been looking for, albeit three years late. Think "Shazam for amateur botanists" or "Facial recognition for dendrophiles" and you get the idea.
